I received free samples of Kuli Kuli Moringa Powder and have entered this recipe into a contest. All opinions of Kuli Kuli’s product are my own.

Have you heard of Moringa Powder? I hadn’t until I noticed that Kuli Kuli was running a recipe contest. Free samples were involved so why not enter? Check out their Moringa infographic:

Moringa powder is made from the leaves of the Moringa Oleifera tree, a tree native to South Asia and Africa. It’s got a very earthy, grassy flavor which is masked fairly well once mixed with other foods. Think smoothies, oatmeal, bars, etc. Moringa has been long known for its medicinal properties as part of the Ayurvedic system and is now used widely in West Africa and South America as a potent nutritional additive to foods.

There has been quite a bit of research done regarding the health benefits of Moringa. And although most of these studies have been done in animals or done in vitro/in vivo and we cannot apply the same conclusions to humans, we do know that Moringa is brimming with nutrients. It is truly a powerhouse of a powder. It’s loaded with beta-carotene, vitamin C and vitamin E which are potent antioxidants that reduce inflammation and ultimately help reduce the risk of developing an array of diseases from cancer to diabetes. It also has a nice spread of B-vitamins, calcium, and iron.

So here’s how I’m using Moringa - in my usual morning bowl of oats.

Creamy Raspberry Moringa Oats

1/4 cup steel cut oats
1/2 cup water + 1/2 cup soymilk (additional soymilk as needed)
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 Tablespoon cinnamon
1/4 cup raisins
1 cup raspberries
2 Tablespoon sunflower seeds
1 Tablespoon chia seed
1 Tablespoon Kuli Kuli Organic Moringa Powder
Hearty drizzle of honey
  1. In medium sauce pot, combine oats, water, milk, vanilla, raisins and cinnamon and let simmer over medium heat for 8 to 10 minutes or until thickened and fully cooked.
  2. Turn off the heat and stir in the moringa powder.
  3. Place oats in a bowl and top with raspberries, sunflower seeds, chia seeds and honey.
  4. Enjoy!
