Located in downtown Greenville, Chicora Alley offers the best of both worlds; a relaxing dining ambiance in the early evening, shifting into a lively late night bar scene. It’s locally owned by two brothers who have traveled around the country and adopted regional flavors, combining them with good southern cooking.

The menu is quite expansive, offering a variety of seafood, steak, chicken, soups, salads and burgers, and they have a great selection for vegetarians and vegans. All dishes are reasonably priced and more times than not, you’ll take some leftovers home with you. Couldn’t ask for more.

My apologies for the quality of my camera phone, but it’s all I had at the moment. This is the Veggie Lover Burrito, stuffed with sauteed veggies, spinach, sweet potatoes, roasted garlic and a 3-cheese blend, served with a side salad, rice and beans, sour cream, pico de gallo and fruit salsa. This was absolutely amazing. The flavor combination was spot-on and everything was cooked just right; no overcooked, mushy veggies. This burrito is so filling that half of it with the rice and beans would have sufficed as a meal.

This is the Jerked Tofu Plate which will totally spice up your life. Spicy jerked tofu topped with mango salsa and placed over rice, beans, fried plantains and served with a side salad. The cold, sweet mango salsa helps to balance out the spice from the jerk seasoning, as does the cold and crisp side salad. This meal was divine.

There was just too much leftover on the table to waste, so we threw it all together in this cup - a slosh of rice, beans, plantains, and mango salsa. Perfect for a mid-day snack or addition to tomorrow’s meal.

I have no complaints whatsoever about this restaurant and urge you to try it out if you’re ever in the Greenville area.
